The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him - G.K. Chesterton

I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend. - J. R. R. Tolkien
This memorial day I'm thinking a lot about the past century of wars. Many of them were fought for financial or economic motivations. This does not detract in any way from the sacrifices made, but it does leave me wondering: what can be done to stop the central banks and deep state from fighting continuous wars?
When those who suffer (on both sides) in war are ignorant of the true cause, and those who caused the conflict (on both sides) only benefit, then perpetual way is inevitable. Orwell describes this forever war:
βThe war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous. Hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. This new version is the past and no different past can ever have existed. In principle the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects and its object is not the victory over either Eurasia or East Asia, but to keep the very structure of society intact.β
Marxism (pretends to) frame the societal struggle as "rich versus poor," the modern post-humanist frames it as "white versus black" or "male versus female", or indeed any other division they can envision. But, the true Enemy is the Devil who deceives them. It is increasingly clear that the worship of, and control by, the Devil is behind the Globalist movement and its proxy wars, economic strife, division, and destruction of beauty and truth.
We fight (first) a spiritual battle, and (second) a physical one. The physical one is fought with one of three boxes, according to Frederick Douglas: the ballot box, the jury box, or the bullet box. As I think about those who lost their lives, to "water the tree of Liberty," I cannot help but think that in many cases their blood was not watering the tree of liberty, but rather was watering the very weeds that are choking it out. Still, it is undeniable that they fought to defend what they have at home. They are heroes, caught up in something that has been called worse than hell; since those in war do not deserve to be there, whereas those in hell are receiving their just deserts.
We may never know the truth about the 20th century wars; which ones could have been avoided and which were necessary. But, we do know that the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines who served, fought, and died did so to defend their homeland, their families, and their way of life.
We cannot undo the suffering of the past, but we can fight to make sure their sacrifice was not in vain. We must identify and dispel the spiritual forces that are choking out liberty; and we must identify and prosecute those in their service who seek to destroy the image of God. We must use the first two boxes (and the third if necessary) to ensure the sacrifice of our fathers is preserved.
The ultimate and complete sacrifice by Christ on the cross purchased for us a true Liberty; a liberty from bondage and death.
"As He died to make men holy, let us live to make them free!"
